2 Things to Discard in Every Room

A list of quick, easy, and sensible things to brighten up your home and get rid of clutter!

Kitchen

• Ketchup/soy sauce packets. They give them to you every time! You don't need to keep them. 
• Any expired food. In the trash. Now! 

Living Room

• Waste basket trash. While you're at it, might as well do all the tiny trash bins in the house. 
• Random items on the coffee table. Dirty coasters, mugs, wrappers, empty DVD cases. Put them where they belong. 

Bathroom

• Empty shampoo bottles. If they have a fraction of shampoo left but you keep forgetting to toss it, now is the time. 
• Your toothbrush. It's probably time to buy a new one. 

Office

• Empty folders. I'm serious. I know its tempting to hold onto them to hold something later. Let go. 
• Old warranties/manuals. Throw out warranties for items you no longer own. If you have ones you must save, consider scanning them so you can throw them away. Many appliance manuals can no be found online.

Garage/Yard

• Original boxes for devices. If you've owned it over a year and have no intentions of returning it, throw it out. 
• Empty containers. In the same vein of empty folders -- if they're not holding something now, you haven't needed them so far. Don't get creative just to justify keeping them.

Bedroom

• Old socks and underwear. I keep maximum 15 pairs of underwear/socks each. Throw out anything with holes, anything that's worn or stuff you always push aside in the sock drawer. 
• Anything (non seasonal) you haven't worn in over a year. This is a good starting place for going through your closet in general. If you haven't needed it in a year, and it's not seasonal wear, it's not worth keeping.
