Spring Cleaning: Order of Operations

Do you want to tackle some spring cleaning this weekend? Here's a quick rundown of how I go about cleaning a room or area.

Assess

  • What are you goals for this room?
  • What do you like/dislike about this room?
  • If there's something you dislike, what can you do to improve it?

Dismantle

  • Take stuff out of your drawers, containers, or shelves.
  • Lay that stuff out on floor or on blanket.

Sort

  • Divide into keep, maybe, and trash
  • Have you used it in a year?
  • Are you keeping it "just in case?"

Refresh

  • Wipe down drawers, containers, and/or shelves
  • Organize what you're keeping.
  • Put it in its resting place.

Clean

  • Vacuum floors for the big stuff.
  • Mop/wet for clinging dirt/small stuff.
  • Leave to dry.
  • Febreeze away!

I love this! I especially love to identify what you dislike and how to change it, that's not something people usually think to do while spring cleaning!
